Yay! We all won. Emmabeams everywhere. And a special thank you to San for all the work she put into the Tuthrefores Awards.
Libellule (Saturday, 29 October 2011 21:20)
Oh @San, you cracked me up! :) This is so well done. Like everybody else, I have no idea how you manage to do all the things you do here aside from your "regular life", you know. It's really impressive. And like everybody else, I'm sending you a special thank you full of warm gratitude.
You deserve a standing ovation. Actually you deserve a Room 234 Jenny chick dance on a chair. Hold on a second...
So you couldn't see that, but I really did it. And doing so, I was also thinking about the Most Daring Jemmaholic @frananifan. It was a bit tricky as it's a rotative chair, but I gonna practice in the following weeks so it looks more graceful next time. ;)
This whole Tuthrefores ceremony made me truly emmabeam. And laugh out loud. Seriously, I love our craziness.
And it brought back very fond memories: Jemma journey; how deeply and beautifully HaH and Jemma moved me; how it changed me (at least something in me) for the best; how it reached the (often forgotten) alcove of soft humanity in all of us; how we became Room 234 JAs; all the wonderful things, feelings and emotions, we've shared (and keep sharing) together; and how this wonderful energy of us, as a group, started to glow...
It's been nearly 2 months now that HaH waved us goodbye and pushed me to step out of my bubble to let them (and you all) know how full of magic this whole adventure has been, how grateful I was to the whole team for what they gave us, how admirative I was of what they all created. Two months from then and nothing has changed, the emotions are still very vivid and the sparkles very present each time I think/dream about Jemma and HaH.
So if you don't mind, I'll use this opportunity to thank them again: To HaH whole team (beyond just all the great actors; really everyone), to Petra Bodenbach, to Kasia Borek and Lucy Scherer, thank you from the bottom of my heart and to eternity for this wonderful thing you gave life to.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Be proud of this little treasure you took part in, always, because it made a difference, really.
And if you ever stumble upon our JA lines, I hope it will make you emmabeam the same way HaH made us emmabeam, and that it will make you look lovingly at the Jemmanami you generated. Because it's pure beauty. :)
Now onto my acceptance speech (no, no, the previous lines were not my acceptance speech, just an appetizer for a special recognition. :D)!
I should be singing, in true STAG fashion, but since it's not my strength, I'll go with a "traditional" speech:
Dear 234ers,
Thank you all for your kindness, I am very honored by the different mentions I received. Among those, one had me in stiches:
Ingrid Jäger Tuthrefore Analysis Award
First, because love me some Frau Jäger. Second, because it reminded me of that scene I love in ep 133: Göttig announces to the teachers that the A and B students system is revoked, that it was just a test run anyway, to which Ingrid Jäger reacts very strongly with "Test run?! That's not what it sounded like last week!". Of course it prompts Göttig to ask: "That's a teachers' conference. What is your business here?", to which Ingrid Jäger answers: "Coffee refills?".
That woman always has a good word, very a-propos in all her candor. :D
So for all the Tuthefores fun, thank you all, and let me reiterate something to you: It is truly a blast to be part of such an amazing group!
As I said for @Kittykatcop #1000 event: Cheers, leute, let's kill the strawberries together! :p
Clijsters3 (Sunday, 30 October 2011 06:32)
I declare a recount!!!
Firstly I'd like to say a huuuge thank you to San because without you the Tuthrefores and indeed room 234 no.2 would not be possible. You really are a tech wizard. I next want to say a huuuge thank you to you fellow room 234ers. You are a wonderful, inspirational and funny bunch of people. I enjoy reading each and every one of your posts and look forward to reading many more. We all bring different things to room 234, which is why it is such a fun place to come. I'm still amazed I get to discuss Jemma with people from all over the world, this demonstrates the power of Jemma and its appeal. I don't have the eloquent words to say what Jemma has meant to me, but you have all seen Jemma and therefore know exactly how I feel. I take comfort knowing how many people have seen Jemma and how many lives it has touched. Petra, Lucy and Kasia and many others did a wonderful job in breathing life into the characters of Jenny and Emma and I'm so happy I watched it and have the chance to share my thoughts and memories here with you. I feel I'm getting all gushy like Kate Winslet and that people is not a good thing.
Vielen Dank!!!
Oops nearly forgot to mention the award I won. It is great honour to win best German learner. Unforunately I couldn't write my speech in German, maybe next year!
Kirsty (Sunday, 30 October 2011 10:38)
I'm so happy. Seriously. Thanks first of all have to go to San. You're awesome, you hold us together, whatever we ask for on this site or with any tech-y help - you're there for us. Danke! Thanks guys who voted for me. I got the pizza-ballet award :) I may have to invent my own kind of pizza ballet to celebrate this. @Libellule and @Clijsters3 said everything I wanted to say and better than I would've said it so I'll just say that this is a great group of people and I'm proud to be part of it. :)
hoppe (Sunday, 30 October 2011 11:33)
Dear 234ers,
this is amazing! San you did a great job to find a structure for all our submissions - it's hilarious! :) So ever thankful for all your work you have done... our landlady of our new 234 home :)
Well, so many awards for all of us... and insights on our qualities through them, thanks guys!
I would like to add an 'JemMonopoly' award for Kittykatcop, but this one needs to wait till our next "Tuthrefores" I guess ;)
I'm very honored to get such cool awards - never got one before. So this is a totally new experience. I hope I will do my awards justice furthermore - some are very inspiring like the most valuable symbol searcher + artist or the Müller Terrier of Word - this one sounds intriguing... although in my opinion I'd have to share it with some others who invented great words (imagine a whole pack of Müller Terriers of word!! LOL) - we're a funny, sometimes wise, creative bunch, that's why I'm coming back again and again.... and... I feel the creations are in good, respectful and caring hands - one of the most important basics for some jemmatastic blossoming :)
Thanks and hugs and kisses to all of you!
Marie-Helene (Sunday, 30 October 2011 12:58)
Wow! A Tuthrefores Awards for me too! Dear 234ers, I'm honoured and happy if some of my posts made sense for you in spite of the language barrier. Thank you San for all and thank you everyone for being so kind and insightful. Hugs and kisses.
frananifan (Sunday, 30 October 2011 15:31)
Aw shucks. Room234 has provided me with so much fun all in one place. I love you. I laugh at you. When I was in NYC rolling around my hotel room, gasping for breath with tears in my eyes…I was laughing at YOU. 234-the only place I could get a prize for being a smart-ass.
Regarding JRMs? I think I now understand them. They are group karma (bringing upon oneself inevitable results). YOUR hearts and souls poured into the mother of all emmabeams, revealed in a single notable moment-like a jemma wink ;) Thank you for providing the magic for JRMs. If not for you, I might not have noticed them....and certainly, I would have had no one else to share them with!
As for the Jenny dance on the chair for 1000th post? That was all for you.
San- I’m raising my a glass to you right now, and it's a large.
San (Sunday, 30 October 2011 21:42)
Thank you all very much from the deepest depths of my heart. And they said creating websites for anonymous lesbian addicts of a cancelled German telenovela wouldn't amount to anything :) What do THEY know? I'm deeply humbled by your votes of appreciation. It's a labor of love, and I love you all very much.
In grad school, I had to take this course called Understanding Users, where we had to think about providing what users actually want and not what we think users need. Well, I'm just a user, like you, wanting a place to come and discuss and laugh and share our perspectives on our beloved Jemma, and we all make that possible. There's a level of understanding and communication here in Room 234 that doesn't exist in my immediate world. So much can go unsaid because it's just understood. There's level of comfort, and so much fun. Perhaps, that's a very clumsy description, but hopefully you still understand.
Well, I raise my bottle of Shiner Holiday Cheer beer to you all. From the German area of Texas, it's a Bravarian-style dark wheat brewed with peaches and pecans. If I may, I'd like to compare you all to this bottle of beer. We're an interesting combination of very different flavors that come together to create something really unique and just as intoxicating. On a side note, it also makes me wonder if Lucy's Bavarian accent is equivalent to my subtle Texas twang. See! Jemma and Room 234 has even changed how I think of beer! :) Truly life changing and it's all thanks to you. *kisses*
@Libellule I did see your chair dance, and it was very graceful given the unstable circumstances. It would've been nice to have a rousing opening musical number of chair dancing for The Tuthrefores ceremony. Maybe next time :)
Kirsty (Monday, 31 October 2011 02:15)
@San 'And they said creating websites for anonymous lesbian addicts of a cancelled German telenovela wouldn't amount to anything :) What do THEY know?' OMJ, this made me properly laugh out loud for the first time in ages, thnkfully no-one else around. Thank you!! :)
hoppe (Monday, 31 October 2011 08:30)
I started to record a little room 234 tune, but something isn't working properly - can't record anymore ater the third voice line.... so for the moment I just put my Room234 1000th post in my sandbox to have at least some music to celebrate with ;)
hoppe (Monday, 31 October 2011 08:33)
@San LOL to the chair dancing musical number... I had nearly the same image in my head... all of us doing a chair dance ;) hahaha!
San (Monday, 31 October 2011 10:10)
@Kirsty You are most welcome :)
@hoppe Why don't you put the video at the top of the ceremony, so we have a little opening number!
hoppe (Monday, 31 October 2011 13:55)
@San and everyone.... well if that is okay for everyone, I'd like to do that - sure! :)
